This project explores how second-generation migrant adolescents decide whether to seek mental health support. Although mental health challenges among young people are increasing, many do not access available services. One reason may be the tension between family cultural values and those of wider society. While healthcare systems encourage help-seeking, some families may view mental health as taboo. These conflicting perspectives can make it difficult for young people to navigate their choices. This study will use a qualitative pilot approach with a small focus group of participants. Through guided discussion, it will explore how cultural experiences shape help-seeking decisions. Data will be analysed using reflexive thematic analysis to identify shared patterns and insights. Findings will inform more culturally responsive tools and mental health support for young people.
