Lucy Lambard is a second year Psychology student. Lucy intends to compare death anxiety and death acceptance in Christians in Scotland and Malawi. I intend to compare death anxiety and death acceptance in Christians in Scotland and Malawi. Research has often connected aspects of Christianity with lower levels of death anxiety, and higher levels of death acceptance, which I hope to test across cultures. Further demographic predictors such as gender, age, and education levels will be considered. Furthermore, some research has identified death anxiety as a ‘transdiagnostic construct’, meaning that it underlies other mental health disorders. I aim to replicate this relationship cross-culturally, by testing for a correlation between death acceptance or anxiety and levels of stress, anxiety and depression in non-clinical/community Christian populations in Scotland and/or Malawi.
