At the University of Edinburgh, more experienced students support newcomers in their transition to university and beyond, while our award-winning Academic Families scheme helps you adapt to university life and study. New students on the Medical Sciences degree programme are given peer support with the Biomedical Sciences Academic Families Peer Support Scheme. The University of Edinburgh offers loads of resources for peer to peer learning via the Institute for Academic Development (IAD) and via Edinburgh University Student Association (EUSA). Academic Families Our Academic Families peer support scheme ensures that new students quickly feel part of the Biomedical and Medical Sciences community. We give you space to ask about course choices, common pitfalls or even the best places to go out. Academic families offer a safe and welcoming environment where new students can feel comfortable in seeking advice and guidance. Academic Families Peer Assisted Learning Peer Assisted Learning leaders run sessions on core courses material throughout the year. Look out for details of sessions in your email. Any questions? Dr Allison Wroe is the academic lead on the Academic Families scheme and is happy to answer any questions you may have.
