The BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences is a four-year degree programme in the following disciplines: Biomedical Sciences, Infectious Diseases, Pharmacology, Physiology, Neuroscience and Reproductive Biology. In some cases, where a student has high entry qualifications, this may be reduced to three years by Direct Entry into the second year of the degree programme. You work towards your degree by taking courses worth a total of 120 credit points each year. In years 1 to 3 of the Biomedical Sciences degree programme you will take a combination of core and elective courses. Core courses are compulsory for students on the Biomedical Sciences degree programmes and must be passed to ultimately graduate with an Honours degree in Biomedical Sciences. Core courses in year 3 will vary depending on your Honours discipline. In the fourth, Senior Honours, year you will take a combination of compulsory courses and elective courses. The requirements for achieving an award differ between programmes and you should check your Senior Honours Programme Guide for information on the requirements. In the first three years, the courses offered by the BMTO and BTO are worth 20 or 40 credit points. These courses will be a combination of core Biomedical Sciences courses which are compulsory for Biomedical Sciences students and other elective courses chosen either from within the choice of courses offered by the BMTO and BTO or from courses offered elsewhere in the University. In the final (Senior Honours) year, the honours programme of 120 points is subdivided into courses of 10, 20 and 40 points.
