Anatomy@Edinburgh is delighted to have hosted the first in a series of Study Days for Higher Surgical Training in collaboration with the Scotland Deanery. Image A select cohort of eight sub-specialty trainees were joined by an experienced surgical faculty for an intensive, one-day course utilizing fresh frozen cadaveric material. Following a targeted review of the surgical anatomy of the chest wall and axilla (lecture and prosections), trainees were then able to practice implant-based augmentation, nipple sparing mastectomy, axillary node clearance and LD flap reconstruction on fresh frozen cadaveric material. Future study days will utilize a comparable approach (presentation, prosection, procedure) to enable higher surgical trainees to gain similar experience in the other sup-specialties disciplines. Faculty: Plastic Surgery: Christina Yip, Cameron Raine; Breast Surgery: Lucy Khan, Chris Cartlidge; Course Organisers: Alexander Leeper, Breast Surgery; Ross Jones, Surgical Anatomy This event was kindly sponsored by The Breast Cancer Institute.
