The ATLAS Facility

Anatomy Teaching Laboratory Additive manufacturing and Scanning Facility

The ATLAS Facility

The ATLAS (Anatomy Teaching Laboratory Additive manufacturing and Scanning) Facility is a new initiative in Biomedical Sciences focussed on using innovative technologies for increasing the opportunities for teaching and research in anatomy and anatomy-related subjects.
ATLAS was established in 2018 by Dr Jennifer Paxton, initially as a project focussing on novel methods of teaching anatomy online as a complementary addition to the Anatomical Sciences postgraduate online programme. Since then, and through multiple investments from Anatomy@Edinburgh, the Deanery of Biomedical Sciences and Edinburgh Medical School, we have grown to a fully operational facility and located to our current home in the Anatomical Museum in 2022. Visit our equipment page to find out what techniques we offer.
The ATLAS Facility runs multiple honours and masters projects every year, with each project focussed on assessing and improving tools for anatomical teaching and research. Visit the projects page find out more about some specific projects that we have achieved or that are currently underway.
