Hearts: An Afternoon of Art with ATLAS

This fun and interactive workshop will focus on learning about the anatomy of your heart and how it works, whilst painting your very own 3D printed heart!

If you are interested in learning more about how your heart works in a relaxed environment and like to be creative, this workshop is for you! Spend the afternoon in the historic Anatomical Museum with the ATLAS team, part of Anatomy@Edinburgh, learning about the heart, innovative teaching methods, including 3D printing, and creating your own 3D heart masterpiece.

The ATLAS (Anatomy Teaching Laboratory Additive manufacturing and Scanning) Facility is a new initiative in Biomedical Sciences focused on using innovating technologies for increasing the opportunities for teaching and research in anatomy and anatomy-related topics. You will have the opportunity to see the ATLAS facility, and see the how work produced by ATLAS is being used in teaching and research. Alongside enjoying a sneak peek inside ATLAS, you can enjoy viewing the collections of the Anatomical Museum out of public viewing hours.

Spaces are limited to 10 people.

Please note that the Anatomical Museum contains human remains and due to the laws governing the display of human remains there is strictly no photography or filming within the museum. Under 16s should be accompanied by an adult to this event.

The Anatomical Museum is a study space for Anatomy students, please be mindful that students will be using the space at the same time as the event.

Accessibility

The quickest route to the Anatomical Museum is to take the lift from the ground floor, situated on the right-hand side as you enter Doorway 3 from the quad of the Old Medical School, Teviot Place. Press button 3 for the museum.

The scenic route if you wish to take the stairs is up six flights of stairs to the museum. As you enter Doorway 3 take the stairs to the left hand-side to the first floor, enter the door to the first floor and pass through the elephant skeletons on your right-hand side to the Anatomical Museum doors, then take a right up the four flights of stairs to the Anatomical Museum.
