The Cameron Prize for Therapeutics is awarded by the University of Edinburgh to individuals who have made highly important and valuable contributions to Practical Therapeutics over the past five years. We would like to invite you to this year’s Cameron Prize for Therapeutics Symposium, taking place on Thursday, 7 November 2024, from 14:30 to 18:30 at the Queen’s Medical Research Institute (QMRI).The Cameron Prize for Therapeutics is awarded by the University of Edinburgh to individuals who have made highly important and valuable contributions to Practical Therapeutics over the past five years. First awarded in 1879, the Prize counts many Nobel and Lasker laureates among its recipients. Winners are invited to Edinburgh to deliver a lecture about their work. Of note, the 2022 Cameron Prize winners were awarded the Nobel Prize less than one week after their prize lectures.This year, we are thrilled to welcome Professor Ian Frazer, inventor of the HPV virus-like particles that led to the development of the world’s first vaccine for cervical cancer, as the 2024 Cameron Prize awardee. His lecture will highlight the 150-year journey of cervical cancer prevention, with a focus on the next 50 years.In addition to Professor Frazer’s talk, the symposium will feature contributions from colleagues across the University and NHS Lothian involved in pharmacology, drug discovery, discovery for reproductive health, cancer research, and neurodegenerative diseases.
