Zetta Mahlil completes successful internship in the ATLAS Facility

Second year medical student, Zetta Mahlil, recently completed a highly productive 6-week internship in the ATLAS Facility.

Zetta was a wonderful addition to the team, significantly contributing to our digital anatomy library and other anatomy teaching resources.

During her internship, Zetta successfully 3D scanned several new models for inclusion in our digital collection and 3D printed over 150 individual models that will be used in future anatomy teaching sessions. Well done, Zetta!

With special thanks to Anatomy@Edinburgh for funding this impactful internship post!

I believe 3D technology has tremendous potential to improve anatomical education, as students often struggle to translate 2D images into real-life 3D understanding. Physical and online models produced through 3D technology can bridge this gap while overcoming the limited access we have to cadaveric specimens. This technology has the potential to make anatomy more accessible and engaging for all learners - I certainly would love to see it implemented in the curriculum more widely.”
