Future Educators: MSc Students Deliver Anatomy Revision Sessions

On 19th March 2025, this year’s cohort of MSc Human Anatomy students took to the stage in the Anatomy Lecture Theatre to deliver a series of revision lectures to the undergraduate medical students.

As part of the MSc Human Anatomy programme, students take a 20-credit module called Teaching Anatomy where they learn the theory and practice of anatomy education. So far, MSc students have gained experience teaching in lab-based environments and designed and delivered small group teaching sessions. This was the last of their practical teaching experience before they complete their teaching portfolios at the end of semester.

Over 150 undergraduate students attended to watch lectures that covered content from across the breadth of the medical curriculum, from the coronary supply and the course of the Vagus nerve. The content was very well received by undergraduates with one student saying: ‘It was a day very well spent!’ The day was equally well rated by the MSc students. One teacher noted ‘It was less scary than I thought it would be, and overall, a great experience.’ Her fellow teacher agreed, saying, ‘It was a fabulous opportunity getting to teach this group of students. There was a bit of pressure to make sure I was teaching the right thing, but it was a much less intimidating environment than I thought it would be and I’m very grateful to have had the experience.’

Now in it’s third year in this format, this revision day for undergraduate medical students is getting more and more popular! Here’s to reaching maximum capacity in the Anatomy Lecture Theatre next year.
