Anatomy@Edinburgh recently played a major role in the Edinburgh Medical School-Sutton Trust summer school, which welcomes potential medical students from non-traditional backgrounds to spend a week experiencing life as a university student. Anatomy@Edinburgh recently played a major role in the Edinburgh Medical School-Sutton Trust summer school, which welcomes potential medical students from non-traditional backgrounds to spend a week experiencing life as a university student.As part of the Edinburgh Medical School experience, the Edinburgh ATLAS team ran a morning event exploring Anatomy in a Modern Medical School, and the anatomy of the heart and cardiovascular system. Combining arts-based approaches and 3D printing and modelling technology allowed the students’ enthusiasm and creativity to shine through.Through a series of engaging and interactive activities, participants were able to experience some of the breadth of anatomy teaching, its vital importance in medical education, and the importance of heart health.The anatomy component of the event was organised by Dr Stephen J Maclean, Senior Lecturer in Anatomy, with support from Dr Jennifer Paxton and Victoria McCulloch.
