Higher Surgical Training (NHS Scotland Deanery) – Foot and Ankle Study Day

Anatomy@Edinburgh is delighted to have hosted the second in a series of Study Days for Higher Surgical Training in collaboration with the NHS Scotland Deanery.

A cohort of 18 orthopaedic trainees from SE Scotland attended the one-day course on 12 February 2020. A series of short lectures covering the surgical management of ankle arthritis, flatfoot, hallus valgus and metatarsalgia were followed by practical reviews of the surgical anatomy and operative approaches to the foot and ankle using fresh frozen cadaveric material.

Future study days will utilize a comparable approach to enable higher surgical trainees to gain similar experience in the other sub-specialty disciplines.

Course organizers: John McKinley (Orthopaedics), Ross Jones (Anatomy).
