He obtained his PhD in molecular virology at the University of Glasgow in 2002. He then moved to the University of Dundee as a post-doctoral fellow where he studied the dynamics of cell division using many quantitative fixed and live cell imaging techniques. In 2018 he moved to the National Phenotypic Screening Centre to develop and run phenotypic drug screening assays. In 2019 he joined Dundee Imaging Facility as an Imaging Specialist, training and assisting a wide user base in diverse imaging techniques and technologies. Iain joined IMPACT as the facility manager early in 2024. IMPACT is accessible to internal and external academic users as well as commercial clients. He is experienced in super-resolution techniques and has expertise in image analysis.
