Congratulations to the ZJE team winning third place at the iGEM awards 2025

Competing against 412 top teams worldwide, the team faced strong contenders including from Cambridge, MIT, and Peking University. The ZJE team impressed judges with their comprehensive project presentation—including a wiki, video, presentations, and live Q&A - blending science, technology, business, engineering, and design. The group project was also awarded ‘Best Infectious Diseases project’ for the Village Awards, a ‘Special Prize for Best Part Collection’ and a nomination for ‘Best Model’ placing them in the top ten teams in the Undergraduate category.

The team’s project: "FoCas: A novel Antimicrobial-Resistance Treatment and Infectivity Inhibition Platform’ applied novel DNA origami technology, to directly address the major global challenge of drug resistance.

These outstanding results are testament to the value of research led biomedical education, where students take part in wet and dry lab research projects from their first year of study towards their dual award degree. The team extends its sincere gratitude for the professional and technical support from their academic supervisors in the ZJE Maker Space, the Biomed-X innovation and Entrepreneurship Labs at ZJE on the International Campus of Zhejiang University at Haining, China.
