On Monday 8th December, ATLAS and the ATLAS Ambassadors shared their Art of the Brain workshop in a local primary school in Edinburgh. Eliana Ben-Menachem, Nina Chen and Merin Sojan (1st year MBChB students) accompanied Dr Jennifer Paxton to Broomhouse Primary School in Edinburgh. Here, they gave a short presentation on the brain, before pupils were each given their own plaster brain model to paint. The primary 3 pupils learned about the different parts of the brain and their main functions, while also learning that our brains are what make us unique. The brain creations were a wonderful representation of each individual pupil and great fun was had by all! Headteacher, Mrs Tamar Huxford, was a visitor to the Anatomical Museum Open Day earlier this year, and got in touch after watching Dr Paxton’s talk on anatomy education and outreach. Any other teachers who would like a similar event in their school should contact Dr Paxton via email to discuss opportunities. Publication date 10 Dec, 2025
